The Crew positions and roles can vary based on crew size. Within a smaller crew, the officers will have more responsibilities. Whereas in a larger crew each officer will have committees that serve under them to handle different tasks. The need for Adult advisors also changes with crew size, however the mentor relationship between Youth and Advisor does not change.

Below are all of the different positions listed. There is a brief overview of each of them on this page, but if you would like to find more information about the positions and who works under them please click the button. Within the links there will also be different resources that can help organize the officers and help them in their tasks.
Crew President
The Crew President is the primary leader of the crew. The President is selected by the fellow crew members. This is a person who shows strong leadership and has the potential to be a great role model and leader for the rest of the crew. He or she works directly with the Crew Advisor and oversees the 3 Vice Presidents.
Vice President of Administration
The Vice President of Administration has 2 key responsibilities: Leading the Recruitment efforts and managing crew documents. First the VP of Administration provides leadership for recruiting new members as well as support for the current ones. This position also follows up with any members who seem to be losing interest and helps them re-engage with the crew. The VP of Admin is also responsible for keeping track of member information including recharter documents and award progress/recognitions. This position works closely with the Associate Advisor of Administration.
Vice President of Program
A crew's success depends on the program of activities, and managing the development of a good program is the core of the Vice President of Program's position. Venturing is based on planning a program that meets the needs and interests of crew members. The VP of Program can have many people working under them in committees to help he or she plan activities for the crew. This position also plans and executes the trainings for the youth and adults. This position works closely with the Associate Advisor of Program and many youth committee members to create an engaging and fun activities for the crew.
Vice President of Communication
Effective communication is a key ingredient in any organization. The Vice President of Communication is primarily responsible for written communication and for ensuring that everyone has the right information. They are also responsible for recording the minutes during meetings showing the decisions, plans, and activities of the meetings. This position works closely with the Associate Advisor of Communication, the Historian, Webmaster, Newsletter, and other youth to ensure great communication and publicity for the crew.
Other Youth Positions
Treasurer
The Crew Treasurer is responsible for keeping accurate records of the income and expenditures of the crew's funds. The Crew expects an exact accounting of all the money taken in or paid out. The Treasurer ensures that all expenditures are approved by crew officers and the Associate Advisor of Administration before writing any checks or distributing money. An auditor from the crew committee may be assigned to assist in setting up bookkeeping procedures, bank accounts, and money-handling methods.
Quartermaster
The Crew Quartermaster is responsible for the crew supplies and equipment. He or she keeps an inventory of and maintains equipment in good working order. When equipment is loaned to a crew member, the quartermaster monitors the safe return of the items. The Crew Quartermaster generates, a list of equipment and supplies needed by the crew for future acquisition.
Crew Guide
The Crew Guide serves as an individual mentor for new Venturers, assisting in their understanding of the Venturing program and participation in crew activities. The Crew Guide works under the Vice President of Administration.
Historian
The Crew Historian collects and preserves memorabilia, press releases, photos, and other data of historical significance to the crew. He or she maintains information about crew activities and erstwhile crew members. The Historian works under the Vice President of Communication.
Adult Positions
Crew Advisor and Associate Advisors
The Crew Advisor is responsible for supporting and training crew officers, helping them plan a program of activities, coaching them in their leadership responsibilities, and obtaining adults help and help and resources as needed through the crew committee.
The Crew Advisor is supported by the Associate Advisor of Administration, Associate Advisor of Programs and the Associate Advisor of Communication who provide additional guidance and assistance to the members of the crew. The Crew Advisor and the Associate Advisors serve as coaches and mentors for the youth officers, the youth lead the crew in consultation with the Crew Advisor and Associate Advisor. Crew Advisor is appointed by the head of the Chartered Organization. The Associate Advisors are appointed by the Crew Advisor. They can be male or female, but must be at least 21 years of age.

Consultants
A Venturing Consultant is an person, 21 years of age or older, who is an expert in a particular subject matter who assists with the crew with program needs, either on an ongoing basis or in connection with a particular activity or adventure. A consultant can be called upon to help develop a program, to provide further information on a program, or to advise the crew in the operations of its own specialty or program. Consultants are the best resource to introduce a crew to a new activity or program. They can be members of the chartered organization, parents of the crew members, or other adults in the community. Consultants do not need to be registered members of the BSA which means they do not have to take Youth Protection Training, but it is encouraged. It is expected that Consultants are accountable for following Youth Protection guidelines.
